Rangers hope to beat interest from English giants Manchester City and Newcastle United to secure attacking midfielder Alex Lowry on an extended deal.
The 18-year-old from Uddingston has impressed after breaking through to the Ibrox club's first team this season, and is reportedly attracting interest from some big clubs.
But Football Insider claim that Lowry is close to agreeing a new contract that ties him to Rangers until 2025 and is worth £5000 a week, after knocking back an earlier offer in February.
They further report that Lowry's agent met with Newcastle head of recruitment Steve Nickson ahead of their Premier League clash against Wolves on April 8.
Lowry scored on his debut against Stirling Albion earlier this season, and has made four senior appearances, with a league start under his belt. His current contract expires this summer.
Scotland youth international Lowry has also been a substitute on several occasions, including the 1-0 Europa League semi-final first leg defeat at RB Leipzig last night.
