Rangers issue European supporter warning amid safety concerns

Rangers have urged fans to change their accommodation plans if they're booking up for the away Europa League tie against Olympiacos.

Philippe Clement's side will take on the Europa Conference League champions on November 7.

The Scottish Premiership giants have European matches against Malmo, Lyon and FCSB to contend with before attentions on the pitch turn to the tie with Olympiacos.

However, after consultation with police, UEFA and other relevant bodies, Rangers fans have been urged NOT to book accommodation in Piraeus for the match.

This is due to safety concerns from local authorities and other clubs who have recently visited, such as Aston Villa last season.

Instead, fans are being told to book up for Athens city centre, where buses will be put on before and after the game to allow for safe travel.

The club's SLO wrote on X: "Following discussions with the police, UEFA, FSE and various clubs, we have been informed that fans travelling to Olympiacos away will be required to use mandatory coach travel to the match, as per local police regulations.

"This compulsory transport will operate between Athens City Centre and the stadium in Piraeus, pre- and post-match, regardless of the location of supporters' accommodation.

"Further details on the coach travel will be shared with supporters in due course.

"Given these arrangements, we strongly advise any supporters who have booked accommodation in Piraeus to change their booking to Athens City Centre, where possible, based on safety advice from the authorities and other clubs who have recently visited.

"We will continue having dialogue with FSE and all relevant stakeholders to ensure the best possible experience for our travelling support."
