Rangers injury update on Kent, Morelos and Souttar ahead of crucial Union Saint Gilloise battle

Alfredo Morelos is in with a shout of featuring in next week's match with Union-Saint Gilloise.

It will be a huge match at Ibrox next Tuesday when the second leg of their Champions League third round qualifier rolls into town. Their away trip to Belgium ended in calamitous fashion as they proved fortunate to escape Leuven with a 2-0 loss, but they were missing defender Souttar and key attackers Morelos, Ryan Kent plus Kemar Roofe.

Their centre-back recruit from Hearts has had an issue identified while they are working to have Kent fit for either Saturday's Premiership match against Kilmarnock or the second leg next week. Morelos meanwhile could be fit for the hosting of the Belgians. Manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst said: “He (Morelos) has been training with us for quite some time and he is getting better and sharper every day. We also have him in the UEFA list for this round.

"So hopefully he will continue and he will be there next week. Ryan had a bad moment on Saturday when he had some problems with his ankle.

"Hopefully he will be better for Saturday or Tuesday. John also has a problem so we are assessing him. We know exactly what the problem is and that's why he didn't travel with us."

First up before the second leg for Rangers is Kilmarnock at home on Saturday, following on from last weekend's 2-1 win against Livingston.
