Rangers injury latest as update provided on Lawrence, Souttar, Helander and Roofe

Giovanni van Bronckhorst has issued a positive injury update on Tom Lawrence - but revealed John Souttar and Filip Helander are not close to a return.

The Rangers summer signing hasn't featured since picking up a knock against Ross County but he could be back for the clash with Hearts after the international break with the Dutchman revealing he has a 'good chance' of being available again by that point.

However, things are not as positive for defensive duo Souttar and Helander with a return for them not any time soon. The Scotland international - who arrived on a pre-contract from Robbie Neilson's Jambos - featured regularly in pre-season and in the opening day win over Livingston but hasn't played since. Big Swede Helander is a more long-term injury and he is still recovering. Striker Kemer Roofe is another on the sidelines with his return to first team action up in the air with Van Bronckhorst delivering a 'have to see' verdict on the hitman.

He said: "Hopefully we will have Tom after the break. Tom has a good chance to be available again.

"For us it is good that there is the break now so Tom has two weeks extra to recover. It is going to be close for Hearts, but somewhere in that period we should have him back.

"John and Fil will take longer. They won't be back after the break. Souttar and Helander will not be in the coming weeks.

"Kemar Roofe? We will have to see if he is one of the players who can come back really quick or if he maybe takes a longer time."
