Rangers have announced they are in "productive conversations" with a US consortium regarding a potential takeover of the club, which would see the group inject additional capital into the Scottish Premiership giants.
This development comes as the Ibrox club moves closer to completing a deal with healthcare tycoon Andrew Cavenagh and the San Francisco 49ers' investment arm, 49ers Enterprises, who are set to acquire a controlling stake in the club.
Talks have been ongoing since October, with the US consortium set to secure at least 51 per cent of Rangers’ shares. The deal is expected to be finalised ahead of the 2025-26 season.
In a joint statement released to Sky Sports News, Rangers and the consortium said: "Rangers and its existing controlling shareholders are in productive conversations with the two lead members of the Consortium, Andrew Cavenagh and 49ers Enterprises Global Football Group, about the potential for the Consortium to acquire control of the club and to inject additional capital.
"These discussions reflect a shared recognition of the importance of Rangers FC's long-term direction, ambitions and management."
