Kris Boyd was left stunned by the apparent influence Rangers' sports science team are having on manager Philippe Clement's selections.
Clement revealed that summer signings Jefte, Hamza Igamane, and Vaclav Cerny were left out his starting XI for the Scottish Premiership clash against Motherwell on Sunday because of advice from other staff members.
Despite that, Igamane and Cerny were thrown on in a desperate half-time act, with Rangers trailing 2-0.
Following the game Clement stated that he would be called "stupid" should he ignore advice from sports scientists. But his comments haven't sat well with Boyd.
Speaking on Sky Sports punditry duties after the Fir Park stalemate, the former Rangers striker said: "Listen, I've got a bit of an issue about the whole thing of sports science. I think they run too many football clubs.

"We can only judge it by where we were as players, and by the way it's got a lot better with the facilities that you can use now to recover and everything.
"But in terms when I hear 'he comes on fresh' about Cerny and Igamane, it's 45 minutes. 45 minutes is doing absolutely nothing for you. He came on because you needed a result.
"Sports science won't get sacked, the manager will get sacked. The fans will be asking questions of the manager as to why he's relying on them. They'll be looking at this new leadership team at Rangers for decisions now because it's not good enough.
"Again, I played in a team that got to a UEFA Cup final, David Weir was 38-years-old and played 61 games that year. 61 games at 38-year-old.
"The recovery has changed. Carlos Cuellar played 65, Bary Ferguson played 62. You go back not too long ago when Rangers got to the Europa League final in 2022. Connor Goldson 61 games, James Tavernier 58, Joe Aribo 50, and there was over seven players that played more than 50 times.
"It's not changed that much. Players want to play football and it's an excuse that's used time and time again to drop players.
"As a manager you will lose your job off the back of it. These guys don't care. See if a new manager comes in, they will change whatever their thoughts on sports science is to suit the new manager that comes in. They are only interested in themselves.
"If Philippe Clement is going to lose his job off the back of sports science, and that is what's running Rangers Football Club at this moment in time, then that's his issue."
