Rangers hero Kevin Thomson has been linked as one of the early contenders for the vacant management job at Motherwell.
The Steelmen have not even begun their new Premiership season but are already on the hunt for a new boss after Graham Alexander departed Fir Park following a disastrous Europa Conference League exit against League of Ireland side Sligo Rovers. It's reported by The Scottish Sun that 'Kevin Thomson, Shaun Maloney, Mixu Paatelainen and ex-Well gaffer Billy Davies have emerged as early contenders' for the vacant post that chief executive Alan Burrows says there has already been applications for.
Thomson stepped into senior management last season at Kelty Hearts after a stint coaching at Rangers, guiding them to League Two title glory before leaving to seek permanent opportunities elsewhere. He has also held commentary duties at Rangers TV, having played for the Ibrox club for three years between 2007-2010.

'Well chairman Jim McMahon said of Alexander's exit: “Graham asked to speak with us early on Friday morning.
"Everyone agreed then that it would be best to make a change. We asked Graham to reverse our fortunes when he arrived 18 months ago.
“He did that, before a solid start to his first full season at Fir Park laid the foundations for what led to a fifth-place finish and European football."
