Rangers heading into another storm as Dortmund weather chaos could threaten Europa League clash

Borussia Dortmund chiefs say they are on red alert for a storm that could threaten Thursday's Europa League clash with Rangers.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst's side jetted out of Glasgow just as Storm Dudley was unleashing chaos across the country.

But the picture in Germany was not much more pleasant for the Scottish champions, with more wild weather waiting for them as they touched down in North Rhine-Westphalia.

The German Weather Service has issued a number of nationwide rain and wind warnings for today, with the worst of the downpours and gusts due to strike Dortmund just hours before kick-off.

Transport bosses are bracing themselves for flood damage and delays on road and rail routes, while schools and nurseries across affected regions have been ordered to shut.

But Dortmund - who will be without superstar frontman Erling Haaland after the Norwegian ace failed to shake off his thigh muscle problem - say they are working on the basis that the play-off clash against Rangers will go ahead as planned.

A spokesman said: “If there would be any warnings we would forward this information as quickly as possible.

“We have also heard that the schools and kindergartens will be closed tomorrow.

“If there would be something concerning the match of course we will inform everybody as soon as possible but so far we don’t know anything."
