Rangers handed Malik Tillman transfer blow as alternative Bayern Munich exit route emerges

With the season fast approaching, the transfer market shows no signs of slowing down yet. And Rangers could still have a lot of business to do before the summer comes to an end.

Gio van Bronckhorst has secured four summer signing so far, with the arrival of more new recruits possible in the coming days and weeks. Rangers have been linked with a number of stars so far, with Bayern youngster Malik Tillman amongst those on GVB's radar. However, more recent reports suggest that the 20-year-old could be on his way elsewhere.

They have been linked with the young Bayern Munich talent Malik Tillman this summer after already bringing Rabbi Matondo to the cinch Premiership from the Bundesliga Tillman has played four times for the Bavarian outfit, including a substitute appearance against Barcelona in the Champions League. But he's keen to play more regularly next season..

The Daily Mail reported earlier this week that the Light Blues were chasing a permanent deal for the 20-year-old and that the young talent was keen on a move to Glasgow. However, it now looks like Rangers could miss out as Sky Sports Germany are reporting that Tillman is 'on the verge' of leaving Bayern on a one-year loan deal.

The report claims that the midfielder is in talks with various English Premier League clubs, and Bayern may be tempted to send the youngster to one of Europe's top five leagues to gain regular minutes.

Meanwhile, Calvin Bassey has been the subject or a number of links already this summer. Ajax are reportedly now set to make a multi-million pound swoop for the star. According to talkSPORT, the Amsterdam outfit are keen to bring Bassey to the Johan Cruijff Arena as a replacement for Lisandro Martinez as the Argentinian is on the verge of making a £46 million move to Manchester United.

No bid has been made yet, although, previous reports suggested Rangers are seeking £25m for the defender. Whether or not Ajax are prepared to pay such a fee is yet to be seen, with the report stating the club would prefer to fork out a fee between £15-20million for the defender.

But the Dutch giants are not the only side hoping to snap up the stopper this summer. Brighton and Hove Albion are also interested in the defender, according to The Athletic.
