Rangers games set to be changed for Europa League schedule

Rangers will play in the Europa League this season after their Champions League dream came to an end last night.

The Ibrox club were thumped by PSV Eindhoven in The Netherlands on Wednesday evening.

The 7-3 aggregate defeat to the Eredivisie outfit saw Rangers' quest to reach the group stage of the Champions League end.

Instead, Michael Beale's men have dropped into the Europa League, a competition they have succeeded in previously.

As a result, it means that Rangers will be playing Thursday-Sunday on several occasions between September and December.

There will be very few traditional 3pm kick-offs on a Saturday for the next few months.

Here are six Premiership fixtures that will be moved to Sunday matches during that time.

Rangers scheduling changes

Motherwell H, Saturday September 23

St Mirren A, Saturday October 7

Hearts H, Saturday October 28

Livingston A, Saturday November 12

St Mirren H, Saturday December 3

Hibs A, Saturday, December 16

It comes as Kris Boyd insists Rangers' excuses over last night's defeat won't wash with the Ibrox faithful.

He told Sky Sports: "The excuses will come out about the finances and everything. It was the exact same as last year so you can't use that.

"Rangers went there optimistic of getting a result after coming away with a 2-2 draw last week, although they didn't play that well. But I must say, the gulf in class was there for everyone to see. Rangers got back into at 2-1 on the night but was against the run of play.

"PSV Eindhoven, the players they had, there was an arrogance about them after the first game, they thought the tie was already done."
