Rangers FC new round-up: Roofe fit, Greig message, McCoist selection call

Rangers FC new round-up: Roofe fit, Greig message, McCoist selection call

RANGERS fans have descended on Seville in their thousands ahead of tomorrow night's Europa League final.

The Ibrox side have a shot at history against Eintracht Frankfurt in Spain, and have been boosted in the build-up.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst confirmed Kemar Roofe is available for the match as he won his fitness battle.

Here's your Rangers news round-up...

Kemar Roofe fit for final

GIOVANNI van Bronckhorst has confirmed Kemar Roofe is available for Rangers in tomorrow's Europa League final.

The Ibrox striker had been sidelined since the Scottish Cup extra-time win over Celtic last month.

But Rangers boss Van Bronckhorst insists Roofe has won his fitness battle and will be in the squad for the Seville final against Eintracht Frankfurt tomorrow.

Porviding the major fitness update, Van Bronckhorst said: "Yes, Kemar is available.

"He trained for the first time with us yesterday.

"He had individual training before that and will train also tonight.

"He will be in the squad for tomorrow, if I want to use him."

John Greig message to Rangers fans

JOHN GREIG has called on supporters to do Rangers proud off the park as Giovanni van Bronckhorst's side bid for Europa League glory in Seville.

The Greatest Ever Ranger has made the trip to Spain fifty years on from his most famous night in the game as he captained his side to European Cup Winners' Cup glory in Barcelona.

Van Bronckhorst and his players now have the chance to follow in the footsteps of those Ibrox legends by overcoming Eintracht Frankfurt and bringing the silverware back to Glasgow.

Victory in the final would be a remarkable way to end a historic and emotional campaign for Rangers and Greig knows the travelling fans have their own part to play on a memorable occasion.

Greig said: "I wanted to write to each and every one of you on the verge of one of the biggest matches in the club’s history.

"To see Rangers in a European final is something many of us thought would not be possible again, and I’ve been so taken by the incredible lengths you are going to in order to reach Seville to back the team out there.

"We have found ourselves on an incredible journey from Armenia to Andalucía in this tournament, and the coaching staff and every player who has played a part on that journey deserves enormous credit.

"50 years on from Barcelona, it is a great thrill for me to have been invited to join the team as once again we head to Spain trying to make yet more history. Of course, a great regret of mine was not being able to defend our trophy the following season in Europe.

"It is vital that we all act responsibly and remember the values that this institution stands for.

Ally McCoist makes shock Rangers team news call

ALLY MCCOIST reckons Aaron Ramsey should start for Rangers in the Europa League final - even though he didn't feature in the semi-finals.

The Wales international was not in the squad for the first-leg loss to RB Leipzig, and was only on the bench for the Ibrox win.

Ramsey also started at the weekend in the 4-1 win over Hearts when a number of key players were rested ahead of the Europa League final.

However, McCoist insists Ramsey is "absolute quality" and reckons the midfielder could thrive on the big occasion in Seville.

Asked if Ramsey should start on BT Sport, McCoist replied: "He does for me. I just think he's absolute quality.

"I think this would be the dream scenario for him.
