Champions League football is back at Ibrox after a stunning win over PSV and Rangers fans flooded the Hotline with praise for their team.
A win over the Dutch in their own backyard ensured Gio van Bronckhorst and his players were lauded for their success. Joe Graham, Garrowhill, said: "Magnificent from Rangers to see off PSV in their home ground. They may have been the underdog but they proved they were the better team on the night to progress to the Champions League group stage. Well done, it has been 12 long years."
Chris Lowe, Yoker, said: "What a performance what a result great news for the club who have hit the jackpot they so deserve after carrying Scotland in Europe for the last few years What a difference it is to have officials who let the game flow and are not agenda driven or blinded by anti-Rangers bias like a good few of ours are."
Jimmy Neil, Glasgow, said: "I was absolutely delighted with that Rangers performance, so much so I don't care if Celtic do get a few million more from the group stage. Rangers have already amassed more than £5million from both qualifying rounds. I suspect that is roughly what Celtic fans lost in bets on Wednesday."
Robert Brown, Bellshill, said: "Once again Rangers have defied the odds and beaten another European giant to help increase Scotland's coefficient in Europe. Now that Celtic are back in the Champions League thanks to our magnificent Euro results, let’s hope their results improve as they are serial losers when it comes to European football."
Colin McArdle, Lanarkshire, said: "Hats off to Rangers. I recently stated PSV were an average team and I apologise now for getting it wrong. They are not an average outfit! They are a below average shambles.. Sports columnists had been building them up as a top team with quality players but the only aggression shown by any of their players was when their calamitous defender attacked a seat after being substituted. Ruud Van Nistelrooy was a superb player but as a manager he is clueless. He is asleep at the wheel."
Alan McGaw, Alloa, said: "What a journey Rangers have come through since playing in Brechin 10 years ago to get back where we belong in Europe's elite. It was a fantastic performance and PSV missed chances but if you don’t take them you don’t win games. Luck was on our side and we’re now in the draw. Antonio Colak is going to prove a bargain buy. Congratulations Rangers."
George Wilson, West Sussex, said: "I'm just reminding Hotline caller Paddy Gowans who said last week the Dutch were technically far better and a proper football team and betting them was getting money for nothing. I will send him a few bob towards his fuel bill as I backed Rangers and it was money for nothing."
Alfie Mullin, London, said: "Rangers reaching the Champions League group stage is a far better achievement than Celtic getting there. After all, Rangers had to work hard to get there, while Celtic were handed their place courtesy of dodgy decisions from SPFL match officials."
Jamie Thompson, Clydebank, said: "Rangers are back where they belong in the Champions League. All the Celtic fans who put money on PSV should just keep dreaming in their own wee fantasy world."
Kenny Wilson, Moffat, said: "Credit where it’s due on Rangers qualifying for the group stage of the Champions League. Having two Scottish teams in there can only be good for Scottish football."
Arrin Geddes, Irvine, said: "Rangers will no doubt strengthen after reaching the Champions League group stage so we could be looking at the best two squads ever assembled by both the Glasgow teams. VAR will be in soon so no excuses, let’s see how the season unfolds and who can handle the pressure. C'mon the Hoops."
Andrew Lamb, Fraserburgh, said: "I remember starting to follow the fortunes of Rangers back in the dark days of the Scottish third division. Wednesday night has eclipsed all these bitter memories. What a fantastic achievement by the current side."
John Scott, Grassmoor, said: "You've just got to love the Dutch with their withering putdowns of Rangers pre and post-match. What was it they said about them being ordinary and nothing special? There's nothing better when arrogant remarks are rammed down the opposition's throat so Rangers fans should enjoy every moment of it."
