Rangers fans turn on stupid smack talkers as Michael Beale gets it from all angles on Celtic glory day – Hotline

Kyogo hit a double as Celtic took the first step towards a Treble and left Rangers and Fashion Sakala back at square one.

A year on from downing Hibs with a League Cup Final brace to hand Ange Postecoglou his first silverware Celtic were at it again at Hampden Park. The Japanese ace produced a Hampden repeat to make it a third trophy for the Aussie. A rip-roaring second half at the national stadium saw Celtic dig in to lift the trophy for the 21st time.

And after Sakala’s pre-match claim that Rangers are a “far better” team than the “the other mob”, cock-a-Hoop Celtic supporters couldn’t wait to hit the Hotline and remind the Zambian - who missed a glorious second half chance - who’s number one in Scotland. John Kerr, Airdrie, said: “Well Mr Sakala I hope you have the decency to apologise to Celtic FC and fans for your we're so much better comments. Obviously you were talking nonsense. Me thinks you're listening to your manager too much.” Andrew Lamb, Fraserburgh, said: “Sadly for Fashion Sakala, the other mob shut him up and won a final, where Rangers were simply the second best.”

Kenny Wilson, Moffat, added: “As predicted all the bragging from a Rangers team who have won next to nothing ends with them put in their place by a Celtic team miles in front. Better in every part of the pitch but I thought Callum McGregor was outstanding yet again.”

And Arrin Geddes, Troon, said: “Great win, great performance, I think 2-1 flattered the Ibrox club and maybe they’ll now realise the standards they’ll need to reach to compete with this Celtic team!”

It wasn’t just Hoops fans who reckon Sakala had scored a huge pre-match own goal with his comments either.

Frank McFerran, Carrickfergus, said: “As a Rangers fan I would prefer that our players did their talking on the field of play. This saying we are better is stupid, and the manager should tell them to shut up.”

Meanwhile, Rangers fan Willie Mercer, Dumfries, took aim at the manager, blasting: “Michael Beale must take sole and total responsibility for the defeat. His gamble of starting two guys in Lundstrum and Tillman straight from the treatment table was an obvious mistake after the first 15 minutes. Both of them were well off the pace and yet he sends the same 11 out for the second half, only making the obvious changes when we are 2-0 down. That coupled with Kamara having a mare, gave Celtic dominance in the middle of the park. And it was always going to be about control of the midfield.”

Back to the jubilant Celtic callers though and the mood was so good that even referee Nick Walsh came in for praise.

David Bryce, Troon, said: “Big Ange delivers again! Celtic hung on a bit however Hatate, Starfelt, Carter-Vickers were immense and Alistair Johnston was unbelievable! Fair play to Nick Welsh who was exemplary.”

William Hutchison, Aberdeen, said: “Well done Celtic, a bit nervous for the last 20 minutes but could have scored a couple more in the last few minutes. We held on and best of all no VAR. Ref was spot on with every call in a really good cup final.”

Stephen Mulhern, Dumbarton, said; “After witnessing a entertaining final and seeing Michael Beale’s bubble burst. Kyogo proved once again he’s the finest finisher in a Celtic shirt since Henrik Larsson. It’s also refreshing to see a forward with a smile on his face unlike Morelos.”

Paul Price, Belfast, said: “As soon as Barry Ferguson tipped Rangers to win I knew Celtic would be lifting the cup. For my mate Big Smicker who sadly passed away during the week - a Celtic man through and through.”

Roger Olton emailed: “I laughed when reading Rangers are better than Celtic I have watched every game both of them have played and Rangers have struggled over the line apart from the Hearts game since Beale took over.”
