Rangers fans told to stop harking back to Dortmund game as taxi called for Robbie Neilson after miserable Euro week - Hotline

Another European night, another hammering for a Scottish club. Hearts were the latest to take a pounding, against Fiorentina on Thursday, and their fans aren't happy. Then again, neither is anyone else if the Hotline is anything to go by.

Neil Renton, Edinburgh, said: "Hearts' European adventure has turned into a disaster. If they’d still wanted to be in Europe by the festive period they should have run a stall in the German Christmas Market in Edinburgh." Ian McDonald, Innerleithen, said: "Hearts were playing a team rock bottom on confidence and losing lots of games. So Neilson sets up to hand them the initiative from kick off. Sorry Robbie, I have ordered the taxi." Gerry Milligan, Erskine, emailed: "The Hearts squad has a decent core but Neilson is too lightweight to get the best out of them. They need a stronger personality."

Andrew Lamb, Fraserburgh, said: "Yet again, the usual failed collection of former journeymen and journalists on BBC Scotland talk up Hearts to beat Fiorentina, only to see them well beaten and reduced to 10 men. When will they ever learn? The SPFL is a flawed product , which is always exposed playing against even mediocre opposition."

Patrick McFadden from Donegal, emailed: "Everyday the usual suspects are bumping their gums about Celtic's performance in Europe. The fact is the most embarrassing result in the history of European football was when FC Progres Niederkorn beat Rangers. The most fantastic result in the history of European football was when Celtic beat Inter Milan to become champions of Europe with the manager and players all born within shouting distance of the ground. That will never be equalled."

Arrin Geddes, Irvine, said: "Borna Barisic was happy to only lose 2-0 and Celtic managed more shots at goal in the first half than Rangers have in three games but George Wilson thinks Celtic are an embarrassment? Have a look in the mirror in your big blue house George, it doesn’t tell lies."

Craig Gordon, Ayr, emailed: "Surely Rangers can’t be about to become the first team in Britain to finish on zero points in the Champions League? Their record in the competition is the poorest of any decent sized club in Europe and an embarrassment to Scotland."

Barriemore Barlow, Dunbartonshire, emailed: "Rangers fans and Ally McCoist should stop referring to 'The Dortmund game'. That was eight months ago and it's not relevant now. And let me say if Erling Haaland was fit for even ONE of those games there would have been no Seville."

Bobby Duncan, Skelmorlie, said: "So, Kilmarnock have declined the opportunity of bringing Kyle Lafferty's hearing for the use of sectarian language so they can have the opportunity to play him in the next four games before his expected 10 game ban....this country will never rid sectarianism out of football or off the streets if weak clubs cannot take decisive strong action to stop it and show it won't be tolerated."

Finally, John Scott, Grassmoor, said: "Is it any wonder Scottish TV commands relatively low TV deals. Look at the product. Rangers or Celtic away to St Johnstone, Ross County, St Mirren or Livingston. Grounds with stadiums 10,000 capacity or under and in the case of Livingston most neutrals would query where's the home support. Then there's Kilmarnock with visiting fans hidden away on the top deck, heard but hardly seen. We can chomp our gums about poor deals but let's at least think about how we can stop showing our game in such a poor way."
