Rangers fans to be spared late Napoli switch as Champions League tie reversal ruled out

Rangers fans will be spared a last gasp dash to Italy for Tuesday night’s Champions League clash with Napoli. Record Sport understands club chiefs are still planning for the Group A game to go ahead in Glasgow despite uncertainty surrounding the fixture during the week of mourning following the death of the Queen.

Gers are in continued dialogue with UEFA and Police Scotland with several options still on the table, including previous moves that included switching the game to Italy, postponing or even forfeiting the match.

However, it is now understood a last minute scramble to Naples is not an option for Rangers given the logistical nightmare it would cause fans. Club chiefs are planning for the game to go ahead in Scotland as planned, but there remains some doubt given the backdrop of the Monarch’s passing.

Police Scotland are expecting more than 200,000 people to descend on Edinburgh in the coming days while London club West Ham and Arsenal are also facing problems ahead of their home European matches this week.
