Rangers fans have reacted to the sacking of Giovanni van Bronckhorst with many thanking him for the Europa League run last season.
The Dutchman has officially been axed by the club with the Light Blues releasing a statement on Monday morning. The decision comes with recent results not meeting expectations of the board, supporters and the manager. Dropped home points to Livingston was followed up with defeat at St Johnstone and a share of the spoils with St Mirren pre-World Cup shutdown. That poor run has left the Ibrox men trailing Ange Postecoglou and Celtic at the Premiership summit by nine points after just 15 games.
The fan pressure was growing on the Rangers boss in recent weeks with performances both domestically and in Europe not meeting the high standards expected. The Champions League campaign ended with six defeats from six games against Liverpool, Napoli and Ajax and the unwanted tag as the 'worst ever' group stage team in history. Injuries have been a major issue at the club this campaign with the likes of Connor Goldson, Tom Lawrence, John Souttar, Filip Helander and Ianis Hagi all long-term absentees.

But in the end, the Ibrox side have now acted with the search for a new boss underway. Steven Gerrard and Michael Beale are the early favourites with the bookies with domestic action not returning until a meeting with Hibs on December 15.
Rangers fans have been reacting to the news with many thanking the Dutch boss for last season's memorable Europa League run that ended in heartbreaking circumstances with defeat to Frankfurt in Seville on penalties. It is a memory that will last a life time with the Ibrox faithful with many wishing the 47-year-old all the best for the future.
Here are a round-up of some of the Rangers fans' reactions to the big breaking news coming out of the club:
"Memories he gave us were unreal, but it was time, was never going to work in the long run."
"Thanks for some wonderful memories Gio, All the very best in your future."
"I'm sad this didn't work out but there's no denying something wasn't working. Thank you for the 2021/22 Europa League run."
"Gave us some amazing highs, but definitely the correct decision, hope he goes on to be successful somewhere else.
"An unfortunate set of circumstances led to him not having a crack at it with a full squad. That being said, there wasn't enough evidence he was the guy to take us forward. All the best to him and thanks for the memories."
"Thanks for the run to Seville and the Scottish Cup memories that will last forever. Not 100% to blame, there are issues above, but this unfortunately had to be done."
"The right decision and hope we have an immediate plan in place for a new manager by the time the squad returns next week. Thanks to Gio for his part in the run to Seville and some of the most memorable nights in my life."
"Based on league form this is an understandable decision but @The_real_Gio deserves thanks and respect for the #europaleague journey last season, it was very special. Not all his fault either - recruitment and the players have let him down this season."
