Rangers fans split opinion with new rendition of iconic Scottish song

RANGERS fans certainly seem to have split opinion with their rendition of an iconic Scottish anthem.

Dougie MacLean’s Caledonia is one of the country’s most beloved songs and was even put forward by Nicola Sturgeon as a potential option for a national anthem in an independent Scotland.

Rangers fans have now rewritten the famous lyrics though to suit the club’s history and they go a little something like this:

We won nine in a row and I’m still dreaming, of Brian Laudrup and Trevor Steven

Marvin Andrews said ‘Keep Believing’, Davie Cooper’s on the wing

We remember Gazza with great affection, the day the helicopter changed direction,

Jimmy Baxter, he was pure perfection, Super Ally scores again…

But let me tell you that I love you, that I think about you all the time,

Ibrox Stadium is calling me, and now I’m going home,

To think of life without the Rangers, you know that it would make more than sad,

Glasgow Rangers is everything I’ve ever had

The most recent rendition of the song came during the side’s trip to Malmo last Thursday in the Europa League.

However, another fan joked that it would be unlikely to hear the club singing the real lyrics.

The song was previously posted on Twitter/X in April 2024 and it certainly didn’t go down well with everyone then with one fan describing it as “cringe”.

One even said they had “ruined a classic”.

The Jouker would be particularly keen to figure out what the Scottish Parliament makes of the song given Murdo Fraser’s recent comments.

He revealed that there are “not many” Rangers fans in the SNP… perhaps not the most surprising revelation for a side whose “ultras” supporters call themselves the Union Bears.
