Rangers fans rave in Europa League fan zone as party reaches fever pitch ahead of kick off

Rangers fans raved in the searing Seville sunshine outside the club's fan zone this evening as the Europa League final drew closer.

Thousands of fans partied in the areas around the Estadio de La Cartuja stadium, while a sea of blue and orange jerseys crossed the Puente del Alamillo bridge.

More than 20,000 Light Blues supporters have bought tickets for the beam back at the stadium, where rivals Celtic lost the UEFA Cup Final in 2003.

Fans danced to cult hit Freed From Desire while shouting "Rangers on fire" as the mercury hit 40 degrees in the Andalusian city.

Supporters also belted out renditions of Four Lads Had A Dream, and the fans favourite song about Gers hero John Lundstram, who scored the goal that sealed their place in the tie with Frankfurt.

The song describes him as "a silky Scouser" who is "just what we need" and says "he's going to win us the Europa League.

Fans also heartily sang songs about boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst, as well as Follow Follow.

The ground was due to open to fans at 7.30pm but the gate remained closed until closer to 7.40pm.

Inside the ground, fans decked out in sombreros and draped in flags piled into their seats in front of the four big screens inside the ground.

Cheers rang out for Gers keeper Allan McGregor, 40, Lundstram, 28, and captain James Tavernier, 30, when they appeared on the screens.

And with 30 minutes to go until kick off, which is at 8pm UK time and 9pm local time, it's thought there were as many as 12,000 Rangers fans already inside the ground.

Boos also rang out from the crowd every time Eintracht Frankfurt fans or players appeared on the screens.
