Rangers fans in Old Firm plea for tragic teens killed Dumfries crash

Heartbroken friends of three teenage Rangers fans killed in a horror crash in Dumfries have appealed for an applause in the 16th minute of the Old Firm match at Ibrox next month.

Ian Cannon, Finlay Johns and Tyler Johnstone were involved in a two-car smash on the A711 Dumfries to Dalbeattie Road in the early hours of Wednesday, March 16.

The three 16-year-olds tragically died in the collision, while another 17-year-old boy remains in a critical condition.

Tributes have been paid to the teens, with the news leaving pals and loved ones devastated.

All three were avid Rangers fans and pals have been sharing an appeal for applause during their next home game against Celtic on April 3.

It reads: "On the 16th March 2022 three young bears lost their life in a horrific car accident.

"We are politely asking that all Rangers supporters unite on the 16th minute against Celtic to applaud and commemorate the lives of these true supports whose lives were taken at such a young age.

"Fly high Finlay, Tyler and Ian. Always remembered."

Meanwhile a fundraiser has been launched to buy a memorial brick at Ibrox Stadium for the youngsters.

The target of £99 to pay for the tribute has already been smashed - with the remainder now set to help fund funeral costs.

Launching the fundraiser, Morgan McEwan said: "I was hoping to raise some money to buy a memorial brick at Ibrox for the three most amazing boys - Tyler, Finlay and Ian. If anyone is able to make a small donation it would be truly appreciated.

"Any money raised over the £99 will go towards memorial gifts and boys families to help out with funeral costs."

Heartfelt tributes have been paid to the three boys following the devastating news and they have been described as those by knew them as 'funny and kind'.

Loved ones gathered for an emotional tribute to the boys as they released balloons for them.

Silver and blue balloons were released into the sky, including a '16'.

Alongside a clip of the release, one friend wrote: "We will carry our memories we had with you top lads for a lifetime."
