Rangers fans in Nicola Sturgeon blast as 'thank you' banner sends scathing message to departing First Minister

Fans in the Rangers end during their match with Livingston have hit out at First Minister Nicola Sturgeon after her resignation.

The leader of the SNP announced her decision to step down from the role she's held for eight years this week but fans of the Ibrox club have been far from complimentary about her reign at Holyrood. Her successor will be unveiled next month but some fans have been quick to send a back-handed thank you to Sturgeon.

In the first half at Almondvale, the away support sent a demand to the Rangers players and board to deliver on bringing silverware to Govan, with a Viaplay Cup final against rivals Celtic looming after their latest Premiership test. A banner held aloft by the Rangers fans read on the departing leader of Scotland: "Years of lies and corruption. Most drug deaths in Europe. NHS crippled. Union maintained. Thank you Nicola."

James Tavernier's penalty handed Rangers the lead in the first half. They are unbeaten since Michael Beale's arrival in Govan prior to restarting post-World Cup.
