Rangers fans fear the three egos will ruin season as Celtic fanatic hits the giggles over Ibrox fury - Hotline

Scotland were Pole-axed on Thursday night by a dodgy penalty but the Hotline reckons Nathan Patterson has planted a huge stake for a claim for more action at Everton with his impressive Hampden display.

The former Rangers kid has been frozen out by Frank Lampard since making his £12million Goodison switch in January.

But he was red-hot against Poland in this week’s friendly clash with a performance full of drive and purpose.

Danny McGowan emailed in to say: “I can’t believe Nathan Patterson can’t get a game for an absolutely woeful Everton side.

“Jonjoe Kenny was brutal for Celtic last year yet bizarrely Frank Lampard reckons he’s a better bet than young Nathan.

“Judging by his display against Poland I can’t see how that can be true.”

Lewis Fotheringham, Mount Ellen added: “I hope Frank Lampard was watching Nathan Patterson, outstanding performance from the young man considering he's not played much since January.

“Lampard may as well put him at right back for Everton as it seems that whoever is in that position already isn't doing a good job considering his team are in a relegation fight.”

Scotland looked on course for a seventh straight win until Krzysztof Piatek’s dubious late penalty cancelled our Kieran Tierney’s opener.

Charles Buchanan said: “What a brilliant display by Scotland. Shame about the penalty. Craig Gordon never caught Piatek but I think Grant Hanley did have a wee push that spun him and helped the ref make that decision. But Scotland looked really good.”

But Stephen Johnstone, Ardentinny, is already worried about Scotland’s World Cup hopes after inspiring potential play-off final opponents Wales to victory over Austria, saying: “Gareth Bale is the one they need to stop after his world-class display against Austria. Sadly, the only outcome I can see it that it will be our national team going to Qatar as spectators not as playoff winners.”

Rangers fan John Bruce , however, was encouraged by what he saw in Cardiff: “In Wales' games against Austria, Aaron Ramsey showed why Rangers brought him to Ibrox. His quality and the skills that took him to Serie A were there for all to see.

“He was also full of running for the whole game. Ramsey will play a big part in the title run-in as he will be a top class, and possibly match-winning, addition to the Rangers' team.”

Robert Livingstone, Palm Beach, was worried by Alfredo Morelos’ absence from the Colombia team that beat Bolivia.

He said: “It’s a shambles! Morelos flew out to Colombia but won't be part of the squad because of a muscle injury. It’s a near day-and-a-half flight with several planes to get there and the same back. If there was any doubt about his fitness, they should have sorted that out before he left Glasgow. Now we have to wonder if he will be OK for the Old Firm game, with the clock ticking.”

This week’s Gers row with Club 1872 was raised again by Drew Ferguson, Oban, who said: “As far as Rangers are concerned there is three egos in the room at the moment.

“The Rangers board have arranged a 'friendly ' in Australia without consulting Club 1872. The supporters seem to think they have the right to interrupt games. And finally, Dave King thinks he will provide millions to pay for the cancellation of this game but he will want something in return.

“Please get rid of the egos and get around a table and sort this in private before we lose the possible treble that would crown our 150th year.”

But Hoops fan Gordon Ashley, Ayr, said: “What a giggle to read Rangers fans raging because they can’t handle the fact Celtic are the main draw in the Sydney Super Cup. Maybe it’s because Celtic have played in two European Cup finals and the last 16 of the Champions League three times that makes Rangers’ Europa League run look like no big deal to anyone outside Scotland.”
