Rangers fans claim bus attacked by '30 to 40' Hearts supporters after Scottish Cup Final

Rangers and Hearts fans fought running battles during a clash at a motorway service station car park following the Scottish Cup final on Saturday.

Jubilant Gers fans claim they were set upon by around '30 to 40' Jambos after a young lad made a throwaway comment that was said to have been taken the wrong way.

Video footage of the violent clash has emerged online showing supporters from both sides throw punches and kick out at each other at the Heart of Scotland Services at Harthill in Lanarkshire.

The two minute recording shows the supporters clash on a grass embankment before then fighting continues towards a row of parked busses.

The mobile phone footage appears to show retreating Rangers supporters being attacked as they attempt to flee the violence and get back on their bus.

A member of the Prestonpans Rangers supporters club in East Lothian posted on social media claiming his some of members suffered “sore faces” during the incident and windows on their bus had been smashed.

The man said: “This was my bus, Prestonpans RSC and I’m in the video trying to get boys back on the bus as we were outnumbered five to one and had a bus full of kids, women & elderly people.

“We got off for a pee in amongst about four double decker Hearts busses and one of the guys on our bus shouted over to them trying to noise them up and have a laugh.

“Then next thing about 30 to 40 grown men came sprinting over attacking anyone that they came across, even those trying to help people off the ground.

“They were then trying to get on the bus and attack people and were only stopped by a few of us literally kicking them off from the front of the bus, before smashing the bus window.

“Few boys with a sore face, but no major injuries. However very traumatic for the kids on board who were enjoying their first cup final and will probably now be put off going back.”

Fans also took to social media to slam the violence that took place on Saturday at around 6.30pm.

Damo posted: “Glad to hear nobody was badly hurt. Unfortunately there’s idiots like that everywhere but the sad thing is that so many of the Hearts fans just stood back and watched it happen.”

George Mckerrin said: “Really grow the hell up and get a life. You [are] all meant to be bloody adults. It’s only a bloody football game, I hope you all get arrested.”

And Alan Price added: “Surely only children could squabble over a game of football.”

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Police are aware of footage circulating but have received no reports of the incident.

“If anyone has any information surrounding this, please come forward and speak to police.”
