Rangers fans asked to applaud tragic Hamilton teen during Sunday's Old Firm derby

Football fans are being asked to hold a minute's applause in memory of tragic Hamilton teen Jordan Goodwin at this weekend's Old Firm clash.

Rangers fan Jordan passed away suddenly after getting into difficulty whilst in the water at Mugdock Country Park, Milngavie, last Saturday (March 26).

Now his family are calling on supporters to applaud the 18-year-old during the eighteenth minute at Ibrox this Sunday, April 3.

In a Facebook post, that has since been shared hundreds of times across the country, Jordan's cousin Tamas Millan said: "As most of you know my wee cousin Jordan died at the age of 18 last Saturday when he tragically drowned at Mugdock Country Park.

"As most of his family and friends know he was a Rangers fan.

"His family are asking if on the 18th minute at Ibrox on Sunday against Celtic all support can give him a minutes applause in his honour, it would make all of his family and friends happy if we can do it.

"Can we please share this so word gets about please folks? Thanks very much."

Meanwhile, dozens of friends and family gathered in Jordan's memory on Monday night.

The large group met near to Neilsland Primary School on Highstonehall Road to release over 150 blue and white balloons and light up the sky blue with flares and fireworks as a tribute to the Rangers fan.

His death has left his close knit family and group of friends devastated with many describing him as “one in a million.”

In a Facebook post following the event a family member said: “All your best boys in the best strip, a blue sky, and all the balloons the sky could hold.

“Only the best for you brother. I hope we made you proud, the turn out for you just shows how much of a loved boy you are son.

“You are forever missed and forever loved my boy.”

A Crowdfunding page set up to help his family cover funeral costs at this sad time has already raised over £3800.

And a fundraising evening was held at the Whisky Well in Hamilton raising even more money for the bereaved Goodwin family who have thanked the local community for their support and love over the last week.
