Rangers fan surprises pensioner dad with Seville ticket in emotional video reveal

A Rangers-daft father and son are on their way to the Europa League Final in Seville after an emotional ticket reveal on social media.

Robert Bruce Jnr surprised his father with the coveted final tickets in a heartwarming video shared on Twitter.

The footage shows Bruce Snr, 69, as he is presented with this season’s home kit ahead of their trip to Spain along with thousands of other fans.

At first, he seems delighted with the shirt itself claiming he is “absolutely suited and booted” for his trip to Andalucia until he notices a card falling from within the jersey.

At first glance, the 69-year-old thanks his son for what he thinks is an accompanying card, before he flips it over, revealing the tickets to the biggest Rangers game in over a decade.

Following a few moments of disbelief, tears of joy are cried from the devoted Rangers fan, provoking a touching moment between father and son.

Robert Jnr told Glasgow Live the retiree is a lifelong Ibrox loyal, however, the Stranraer native has missed out on several opportunities to see the Bears on the big stage, including the famous European Cup Winners’ Cup final in 1972.

He gave his son money for a ticket to Rangers’ last European final in Manchester against Zenit St Petersburg, giving up his chance to go in the process.

The grateful son said: "This was my chance to repay the favour.

“My dad brought me up to support the team, he has supported Rangers his whole life and couldn't make it to Barcelona in ‘72.

“He also gave me around £750 to go to the UEFA Cup final in Manchester [in 2008].

“So that’s why I wanted to do whatever it took to make sure he was at the game, It didn’t matter how much it cost.

“He doesn’t normally show his emotions so it was amazing to see what it meant to him and we all can’t wait to go."

The father-son duo will be joined by Robert Jnr’s 16-year-old stepson Cain as they join a group of devoted fans headed to the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán Stadium.

The first Scottish side in 14 years to make a major European Final, Van Bronkhorst's squad face Germany’s Eintracht Frankfurt in the final clash for the cup, which kicks off at 8pm tomorrow night.
