Rangers midfielder Cole McKinnon is reported as a target for English Premier League side Newcastle United.
The midfielder is out on loan at Scottish Championship club Partick Thistle and scored his second goal for temporary manager Ian McCall in a 2-0 win away at Arbroath. He has been nominated for their August Player of the Month after his excellent start to life at Firhill, building senior experience to stand him in good stead for becoming a Rangers regular.
It's reported by the Scottish Sun however that Newcastle have sent scouts to watch him play for the Maryhill side and they'll no doubt have been impressed by what they witnessed. The side managed by Eddie Howe are now 'weighing up a bid' in the January transfer window after a report £117m summer spending spree. Speaking before the victory at Gayfield, Thistle midfielder Stuart Bannigan says McKinnon has been a welcome summer addition to their promotion pushing plans.

He explained: "Cole's been excellent, a good player, good technically. He can score a goal and has a good physique about him. He's come in and been superb.
"We certainly need to be on our game to get a game. The goal in him from midfield is important as we haven't done enough of that in the past.
"Plus he has legs box to box. He is young and hungry, so he has been a great addition and one we are happy to have."
