Rangers 'face competition' over Jonathan Panzo transfer

Rangers are keen on striking a deal with Nottingham Forest for Jonathan Panzo.

However, one report has suggested that the Ibrox club will face some stiff competition for the defender's signature.

The 22-year-old has been monitored by the Light Blues for some time and is someone Michael Beale is keen to have as part of his squad next season.

It's believed that a deal will cost around £2.5million to make the transfer happen.

It's said that Rangers and Panzo's representatives are in negotiations over personal terms, but a deal with the Premier League club has yet to be struck.

But in the meantime, it appears Rangers could have other competitors to worry about as far as any potential deal is concerned.

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano says that there are other English clubs keen on signing him, as well as some in Germany.

Updating fans on the player's situation, he tweeted: "Understand Rangers have also asked for Jonathan Panzo again as new centre back, talks are ongoing — but there are also German and English clubs keen on signing him."

Panzo would come into the squad at centre-half alongside Connor Goldson, John Souttar, Ben Davies, and Leon King in the squad.

He played 32 times on loan at Coventry City last term, as he suffered a play-off final heartbreak with a penalty shootout loss to Luton Town.
