Rangers Europa League opponent says he 'won't underestimate' the Ibrox side

Malmo striker Erik Botheim insists they have no intention of underestimating Rangers in the Europa League despite dodging all the big guns.

Rangers open the new-look tournament campaign later this month with a trip to their old foes in Sweden, having twice been knocked out of the Champions League by them in recent years.

While Rangers landed a nightmare draw including the likes of Manchester United and Spurs, Malmo were drawn against more modest teams.

However, Norwegian international Botheim insists they are desperate to get off to a flier against Rangers.

He said: "I think we can get a good start in the Europa League.

"It's true we avoided teams like Manchester United, Roma, Aax, Lazio and Spurs, but we won't be underestimating any opponents.

"There will be tough matches regardless, starting with Rangers at home.

"But I do think we have what it takes to qualify.

"We have to play against Rangers, Galatasaray, Twente Enschede and Olympiakos at home and I think everyone at the club is really looking forward to all of the games at our place in particular.

"I think we will be at our strongest at home."
