Rangers edging closer to securing fifth summer signing

Rangers' summer recruitment plans are in full flow, with a fifth addition of the transfer window close to completion.

Moroccan striker Hamza Igamane is set to join the Ibrox club ahead of the players' return for pre-season training next week.

The 21-year-old will put pen to paper in the coming days, as Philippe Clement adds another attacker to his ranks.

Rangers Review states that a deal with his club, FAR Rabat, has been agreed. It is believed to be worth around £1.5m.

Igamane has been capped by his country at Under-23 level and is expected arrive in Scotland in the coming days to get down to business.

He scored seven times in 23 appearances last season. He also notched six assists.

It follows on from the official confirmation of Connor Barron's switch from Scottish Premiership rivals Aberdeen. He was a free agent after leaving Aberdeen, however, a transfer fee will need to be negotiated between the clubs due to the length of time the player spent in Aberdeen's academy.

The midfielder signed a four-year deal, after following Jefte, Oscar Cortes and Clinton Nsiala in joining up with Clement’s squad ahead of the new campaign.

The futures of skipper James Tavernier and vice-captain Connor Goldson have been the subject of sustained speculation in recent weeks amid interest from Saudi Arabia.

Rangers could also look to offload the likes of Todd Cantwell, Tom Lawrence and Scott Wright, while Sam Lammers and Ianis Hagi will not be part of the plans following their respective loan spells last season.

It's said that Ridvan Yilmaz is not someone that Clement and Nils Koppen, the director of football recruitment, are looking to move on this summer. Yilmaz has attracted interest from Turkiye in recent months but is believed to be settled at Ibrox.
