Gio van Bronckhorst’s long-time assistant Jean-Paul van Gastel says he wants to work with the Rangers boss again in the future. The Dutch coach was offered the role as Ibrox No.2 when van Bronckhorst took over from Steven Gerrard last November.
But van Gastel took the tough decision to knock back the job in Glasgow and stay on as head coach at Chinese club Guangzhou City. The former Holland midfielder wasn’t surprised to see his close friend achieving success at Gers last season as they reached the Europa League Final in Seville.
And he’s adamant that one day – whether it’s at Rangers or elsewhere – they’ll be reunited in the dugout. In an exclusive interview, van Gastel said: “Do I think we will work together again in the future? Oh for sure.
“We’ve been together for a long time and we keep in touch. Without speaking, we know from each other what we have to do.
“I think for sure there will be a time in the future where we will work together again.”
