Rangers' Cyriel Dessers reacts to duo of disallowed goals vs Fenerbahce

Rangers striker Cyriel Dessers says it was a pity he had two goals disallowed against Fenerbahce this evening.

The Ibrox club romped to an impressive 3-1 victory in Istanbul, with the Nigerian frontman scoring one and assisting another.

Dessers opened the scoring early doors with a fine finish that was millimetres over the line. He then congenially linked up with Vaclav Cerny as the winger put Rangers back ahead before sealing the win late on.

Just as Dessers' opener was marginally over the line, the striker proved to be just in front of the last Fenerbahce defender twice as Rangers had two second-half goals disallowed.

Post-match, he was asked directly about both: "With the first one, I was just looking at Nico [Raskin] when he was shooting," said Dessers (TNT).

"I wasn't really aware.

"With the second one, I was hoping to get the ball just a tiny bit earlier. Jefte played it perfectly. It's a pity it was disallowed."

Although Rangers lead by two goals in the tie going into next week's second leg, Fenerbahce boss Jose Mourinho says it is far from over.

The legendary Portuguese manager was asked post-match what went wrong for his side: "Everything," he said (TNT).

"The result was closer to being bigger than smaller, so for us, it was a good result.

"They [Rangers] deserve the result.

"But, for me, it's not over. I know it's 3-1, so we are losing 3-1 when the game starts [next week], but it's not over."
