Rangers could profit from star's Partick Thistle exit as Dundee beat Motherwell and St Johnstone in transfer race

Dundee have beat Motherwell and St Johnstone in the race for Partick Thistle striker Zak Rudden.

'Well were keen on the Jags forward while Saints have already had bids booted out this month for his services.

Rudden's deal at Firhill expires in the summer and Dundee have nipped in to secure him for next term. They must pay compensation to Thistle.

James McPake's side will try to land him this window but will have to pay Partick Thistle a decent fee to get the striker, according to the Daily Record.

Ian McCall's Thistle side will have to pay Rangers a significant sell-on as part of the original deal which took Rudden to Firhill in 2020 if he departs this month.

Motherwell lost top scorer Tony Watt to Dundee United this week but manager Graham Alexander has no immediate plans to find a replacement.

Rudden started his career at Rangers and has featured for Falkirk and Plymouth. He has netted 18 times in 47 Jags appearances.
