Rangers confirm Ibrox return date with an unexpected twist

Rangers have confirmed the date for their long-awaited return to Ibrox.

The Glasgow giants have announced they will be back playing on home turf for the Premier Sports Cup quarter-final tie against Dundee on Saturday, September 21.

However, while they will be back at Ibrox, they will take on their fellow Scottish Premiership side with only three stands available to fans.

That's because the final works will still need to be concluded to the Copland Stand.

A short statement on the club's website reads: "Rangers Football Club today confirms our Premier Sports Cup tie with Dundee on Saturday, 21 September, will be played at Ibrox Stadium.

"Excluding the Copland Stand, where final concourse and seating works are ongoing, all areas of our home will be open for this match. Season ticket holders from the Copland Stand will be offered an exclusive window to purchase seating elsewhere.

"The continuous credit card scheme (CCCS) will return for this game for all supporters, excluding those in the Copland Stand.

"Tickets for this 5:30pm kick-off are priced at £23 for adults, £17 for concessions and £11 for juniors."

Philippe Clement and his players have been utlising Hampden Park for their 'home' matches since the beginning of the 2024/25 campaign.

This match will bring an end to that arrangement with the Scottish FA, which was sparked following a delay to the order of materials earlier this summer.

Meanwhile, Rangers face an injury sweat over Rabbi Matondo after he was forced off against Celtic.

The winger was unable to continue at Celtic Park after appearing to pick up a hamstring issue in the first-half.

Matondo had to be replaced by Ross McCausland after 38 minutes.

Now, the winger has pulled out of the Wales squad during the international break.
