Rangers assistant Neil McCann has provided an update on Vaclav Cerny’s fitness following the winger’s absence in last weekend’s thrilling 4-3 victory over Dundee at Dens Park.
Cerny was a notable omission from the matchday squad as the Light Blues edged out Dundee in a high-scoring affair. The 27-year-old has been an influential figure in the squad this season, and Rangers fans have been eager for news on his availability.
Speaking ahead of Rangers’ upcoming Scottish Premiership clash against Hibernian, McCann addressed Cerny’s condition and offered insight into when the Czech international might return to action.
The Rangers icon did not specify whether Cerny would be fit in time for the club’s next outing at Ibrox on Saturday, noting that they "won't take any risks", but hinted that his recovery was progressing well.
"Vaclav Cerny is still working with the medical department and he will join us tomorrow hopefully. But we are still unsure whether he we will make it or not," McCann explained.

"He's making really good progress, so we are hopeful that he will be involved on Saturday. But we've got such big games coming up - Saturday is one of them - but as you know the European game are huge. We just have to be guided by him.
"We will push him as much as we can because he's been really important for us. But we will take no risks if he's not feeling 100 per cent."
Meanwhile, Bailey Rice sustained a knock last time out, and will be assessed on Friday.
"Wee Bailey Rice took a knock in the game at Dundee but he showed a bit of guts and determination to stay on as we couldn't make any more substitutes," McCann said.
"And I think he's another one who's making progress. We will just need to find out from the medical team tomorrow morning."
