Rangers 'close' to signing Albanian midfielder Nedim Bajrami

Rangers are in advanced talks to sign Albanian midfielder Nedim Bajrami before the summer transfer window closes on Friday.

The 25-year-old, who currently plays for Sassuolo in Serie B, gained attention at Euro 2024 by scoring the fastest goal in the tournament’s history - just 23 seconds into a match against Italy.

Discussions between Bajrami’s representatives and Rangers officials are ongoing and it's suggested that a potential loan deal with an option to buy next summer is in the pipeline.

Rangers have been looking to strengthen their midfield following Todd Cantwell’s transfer request, with the playmaker nearing a permanent move to Blackburn Rovers.

Meanwhile, Ianis Hagi, currently training with the B team, has opted against a transfer to Rapid Bucharest and is available for a move.

Hagi broke his silence on Tuesday night by releasing a statement through Instagram stating that he wants to remain at Ibrox and is ready to fight for his position.

Light Blues manager Philippe Clement indicated last Saturday that he was expecting to add to his nine summer additions before they visit Celtic this weekend.

"I expect a busy week, but more busy in incoming and a few outgoing. But outgoing not for players who are in the squad today. That's clear. More outgoing for players who are not in the squad," he said.
