Rangers managing director Stewart Robertson has given an update on the future of defender Connor Goldson amid summer links to Nottingham Forest.
The 29-year-old is out of contract at Ibrox at the end of the season, meaning that he could be available on a free transfer.
That possibility is said to have alerted clubs to his availability with the Scottish Sun claiming that Forest are the ‘strongest suitors’ for the player.
Steve Cooper ’s men could though face competition for his signature with West Bromwich Albion also said to be showing an interest, while the possibility of a stay at Rangers has not been ruled out.
Goldson has started all but one of the Scottish side’s Premiership games so far this season and has worn the captain’s armband in both the Scottish League Cup and Europa League qualifying.
Giving an update on the player’s future, Robertson has revealed that ‘regular conversations’ are going on between the player and the club who are not yet resigned to losing him.
“The focus has all been on the last dozen football games, European games, and Scottish Cup. We're not resigned to losing him,” he told Sky Sports .
“I know Ross (Wilson) (Rangers’ sporting director) is having regular conversations with all the players whose contracts are expiring in the summer and that's something that will be addressed in the coming months.
“I'm quite philosophical about how these things work. Players come in and sign a contract and they've committed for that time. If they serve their time and that's what the club has signed up to as well then that's fine. If someone leaves prior to their contract expiring and we get some revenue then again that's something everybody is happy with.
“I get the noise that can sometimes follow these things but we just have to deal with what's in front of us.”
Goldson played alongside Forest defender Joe Worrall during the Reds defender's loan spell at Ibrox back in 2018/19.
