Rangers challenged to take fight to Celtic as Michael Beale vows to 'chase down' Ange Postecoglou

Defiant Michael Beale is out to "chase down" his opposite number Ange Postecoglou and turn the Premiership back into a two-horse race.

The new Rangers boss is making his presence felt on the training ground and Record Sport revealed last night he called up three players from the B-team as he looks to set a new standard. He also called on Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos to step their game up, warning them they don't "hold all the cards" as far as their contract deadlocks are concerned.

Speaking in a revealing interview with Sky Sports, the boss admits cutting the nine-point gap to Celtic won't be easy. But he's not shying down for the fight as he has his counterpart Postecoglou in his sights. Beale said: "It's going to be difficult, we know that. I think that Ange has got a team that's in momentum and fair play to him for the job that he's done to this point.

"My job is to chase them down, the players' job is to chase them down. That's a mentality shift in terms of how we look at things because when I left here we were the ones in front.

"So now the mentality's shifted and we have to chase them down it starts with winning all the other games, it doesn't start with games against them.

"We have to get closer. The most important thing right now is we have to reconnect with our fans in terms of the way we play, I think that's really important."
