Rangers, Celtic and Hearts have reportedly issued an ultimatum to the Lowland League rearding the inclusion of their B teams in next season's fifth tier.
Glasgow's big two entered sides into the competition last season on the basis there was no promotion or relegation from the division and, following what was regarded by most clubs in the league as a successful experiment, Hearts were looking to follow suit for the 2022/23 campaign.
However, the Jambos saw their application for membership rejected after a late bid to take up one of the two guest applications available for next term.
Earlier this month, the Lowland League asked clubs - including Lanarkshire outfits East Kilbride, Caledonian Braves and Cumbernauld Colts - if they would be willing to change their rules to allow a third guest club to enter, but this was voted down.
A decision was set to be made on which two clubs will be allowed to enter by June 6.
But the Daily Mail report the three Premiership clubs have banded together to tell the Lowland League they must admit all three or none of them for next season.
Rangers and Celtic B teams, who finished second and third respectively last term behind champions Bonnyrigg Rose, both paid £25,000 to participate in the fifth tier and blood youngsters like Rangers' Alex Lowry and Celtic's Owen Moffat.
But now it seems the ultimatum hasn't been well received by Lowland League bosses, who could choose to revert back to a 16-team division at their AGM on Monday.
