Rangers break silence over bottle flashpoint against Celtic as they launch appeal to identify culprit

Rangers' supporter liaison officer has revealed they and Police Scotland are working together to identify the yob who tarnished Sunday's clash with Celtic.

The second half of the showpiece clash was delayed by three minutes after Joe Hart alerted Willie Collum and stewards that his goal mouth was covered in shards from a broken bottle.

The unsettling images were being beamed across Britain with the top of the table clash being shown on Sky Sports main event.

And another incident would follow as a member of the Celtic staff was hit with a bottle during the signature win at Ibrox.

A Rangers spokesperson told Sky Sports News: "We are assisting Police Scotland regarding both incidents and can confirm that stadium CCTV is being reviewed.

"We strongly condemn both incidents and the perpetrators will be banned."

Rangers' SLO Greg Marshall also reacted to the incident and urged supporters to come forward to help identify the guilty party during the interval.

Posting on Twitter, he said: "We are working with Police Scotland to identify the individual who threw a bottle onto the pitch at half time yesterday.

"This delayed the start of the second half and put players safety in danger. Anyone with information can pass details anonymously to either the club or Police."

The SPFL are awaiting a full report from the incidents on Sunday.

An SPFL spokesman said: “We await the match delegate’s report, and we would urge any fans with information about these incidents to contact the police.”
