Former Anderlecht and Ghent boss Johan Boskamp reckons under-pressure Rangers manager Philippe Clement is still on Belgium's shortlist to take charge of their national team.
Clement was handed a vote of confidence at the weekend by new Ibrox chief executive Patrick Stewart and guided his side to a comfortable win against St Johnstone despite fans' protests.
Belgium seem certain to axe manager Domenico Tedesco after a dismal Euros and poor results since, with Clement's name consistently being mentioned as a possible replacement by Belgian media, despite the Rangers boss insisting he wasn't interested.
Now ex-Stoke City boss Boskamp - who has also managed Standard Liege, Lierse, Dender, Beveren, and Kortrijk in Belgium and is now a TV pundit - believes Clement's name is in the frame with the Belgian FA.
He said: "I am sure Philippe Clement's name has certainly been discussed.
"But I hope Philippe can still straighten things out at Rangers.
