Rangers boss Michael Beale handed Celtic warning with 'very tough job' verdict delivered

Paul Ince has branded Michael Beale a 'lovely fella' but can understand the frustration of QPR fans over his move to Rangers.

The 42-year-old was handed his first gig in management at Loftus Road in the summer with the highly-regarded coach offered an English Premier League route with Wolves just months into his stint. However, he knocked back the opportunity citing loyalty and integrity as key reasons behind his decision. Just weeks later he left for a return north of the border with many fans at his former club left angered.

Beale - previously No2 during Steven Gerrard's reign - has a 'very tough job' ahead of him according to Ince, who hopes the Rangers board stump up the cash to back him. He is still in disbelief that he knocked back the riches of the EPL but has wished the new boss all the luck in the world as he looks to dethrone a 'very good' Celtic team.

Speaking to Lord Ping, the Reading boss said: "Michael Beale is a lovely fella and a very good young coach. I understand why QPR fans feel disrespected but maybe it was a job that can't turn down.

"There's going to be a lot of pressure for Michael because they're competing with a very good Celtic team at the moment and he'll know what will happen if he doesn't hit the ground running.

"Michael has a very tough job ahead of him so I hope he gets time and money to spend to show what he can do.

"I can't believe Michael turned down a Premier League job, I would never do that but I'm sure he's capable of being successful at Rangers and I wish him all the luck in the world."
