Rangers board are in for an AGM hammering and it's the least they deserve with Gio hanging by a thread - Hotline

Rangers fans were out in force ahead of Wednesday night's game against Hearts and the Hibs support weren't happy with their lot either.

Joe Graham, Garrowhill, said: " Gio van Bronckhorst in his fight to keep his job, as he himself knows it’s hanging by a thread. It's hard to believe that six months ago he led them to a Europa League final only to lose on penalty kicks. Also winning his first silverware with a Scottish Cup victory.

"He also took them into the Champions League by beating PSV Eindhoven which has proved to be his downfall instead of an achievement. You can’t blame Gio alone for what has happened since. Instead of selling Aribo and Bassey, they should have kept them and added another couple of quality players. The top table in the forthcoming AGM is in for a hammering. Let’s hope better times are coming."

Robert Livingstone, Palm Beach, emailed: "Caller Allan Docherty rightly said Rangers must sort out the defence...that's exactly what Graeme Souness did when arriving, rebuilding the defence with some very good English league players. It was Rangers' best defence in a decade and now it's the exact opposite under Van Bronckhorst, whose defence is leaking goals every game, compared to Gerrard's league winning side which gave away a miserable 13 goals all season."

But John Joe Higgins emailed: "So what if St Johnstone beat Rangers? They're an SPFL club, not a pub team and shouldn't be talked about as such so let's stop baying for the heads of managers and players, enjoy the game and give the wee teams some credit."

Ian Renton, Johnstone, said: "I think that part of the problem with Rangers just now, is the lack of a core of Scottish or Northern Irish players. Players who really understand what it means to play for Rangers as they have supported the club all their life."

James Fleming tried to see the funny side of James Tavernier's recent acquittal from a speeding allegation. He said: "It must be bad if Tavernier can't even take a fixed penalty. Have the police not got VAR yet?"

Neil Renton, Edinburgh, said: "The defeat against Ross County shouldn’t come as a surprise to Hibs. They’re in so much of a freefall Ross from Friends could score a few against the Easter Road side."

John McDonald, Edinburgh , added: "That was an awful performance from Hibs. Five losses in their last six games is shocking and Lee Johnson doesn't look like a man who thinks he can turn it around."

Tim Gibbens emailed: "It’s unbelievable to think that Steve Clarke’s Scotland squad and even Tom 'the magician' Rogic are to miss out on the forthcoming World Cup, whereas Jason Cummings will take part! However, are the world’s armchair spectators really ready for his sinister Joker tattoo goal celebration to be beamed into their living rooms at nighttime?

"Fair dinkum, though, to the “Cumdog” for successfully reincarnating himself as the “Cumdingo” after emigrating Down Under!"

And Robert Frew, Glasgow, simply wanted to say: "Loving ‘Hotline’ these days…keep up the good work."
