David McCallum has blasted the challenge on Alex Lowry that left the youngster in 'distress' during Rangers B's thumping win over Dumbarton.
The Light Blues starlet was stretchered off in the closing stages of the 7-0 win over the Scottish League Two leaders during their SPFL Trust Trophy clash. The youngster - who is highly-rated by Giovanni van Bronckhorst and his top team - fired home a hat-trick as he continues to make a name for himself and impress.
But in the final moments, he was hacked down in a horror tackle from Ally Love, with the Sons man yellow carded. The dangerous tackle took the shine off the huge win for the Ibrox youngsters with coach McCallum admitting it was hard to fully enjoy the display as he expressed his anger over the challenge. He said: "Hard to fully enjoy a brilliant performance when we have a boy whose done so well in distress. We are angry with the challenge."
Rangers had raced into a four goal lead at the break thanks to two early strikes from Lowry and efforts from Charlie McCann and Zak Lovelace.
Lowry completed his treble just four minutes into the second period with Aaron Lyall and Stephen Kelly netting the others for the Light Blues.
