Rangers B 1 Crystal Palace 0: Oscar Cortes features in narrow win for Ibrox starlets

Rangers B secured a narrow victory over Crystal Palace this afternoon.

The game's only goal came from Calum Adamson, who found the net after a brilliant setup from Alex Smith on the hourmark, ensuring the Ibrox youngsters triumphed at the Rangers Training Centre.

The match began with early pressure from the home side as Oscar Cortes advanced down the left and set up Chris Eadie, whose powerful strike was thwarted by Palace's defence.

Rangers continued to press, with Zander Hutton's cross drifting just wide of the target, and Bailey Rice's free-kick was then superbly saved by Rylee Mitchell.

Despite several attempts, including a stunning strike from Rice, Rangers struggled to break the deadlock in the first half.

As the second half unfolded, Cortes sent a shot inches wide, but the breakthrough finally arrived when Smith's impressive run into the box allowed him to deliver a cross to Adamson, who struck decisively past Mitchell.

Rangers maintained their lead as Palace searched for an equaliser. A late header from Rafa Fernandes was also saved as the Ibrox side looked to extend their lead before the final whistle.
