Rangers will face Bayer Leverkusen in a mid-season friendly with the club announcing Xabi Alonso and his Bundesliga side are coming to Glasgow in December.
The Ibrox side have two games to go before the season breaks up for the World Cup with a number of stars, including USA duo James Sands and Malik Tillman and Croatian pair Antonio Colak and Borna Barisic, hopeful of flying out to Qatar. The bulk of the squad though will remain in Scotland to gear up for the second half of the season as they hope to make some headway into Celtic's advantage at the top.
They face their rivals after the New Year in what already looks like a must-win game, whether Gio van Bronckhorst is in the job by then or not. And they'll be preparing for that one as well as clashes with Hibs, Aberdeen, Motherwell and Ross County with a blockbuster friendly against Leverkusen at Ibrox. Former Celtic star Jeremie Frimpong is set to feature for the visitors IF he doesn't make the cut for the Netherlands.
The game will take place on Saturday, December 10 at 1pm. The two sides last faced in the 2019/20 Europa League with Leverkusen sending Steven Gerrard 's team packing after the season restarted following the pandemic.
