Rangers and the 'impossible' Ibrox moment as Gio van Bronckhorst sends fans 'frustration' message

Giovanni van Bronckhorst says he understands why Rangers fans are upset in the wake of a 1-1 draw at home to Livingston.

The Light Blues are now four points behind Celtic in the title race after Joel Nouble spun inside their own penalty area and shot past Allan McGregor less than 10 minutes into Saturday's Premiership match. Eighty-seven minutes and a Lions red card for Morgan Boyes later, John Lundstram rifled in a stoppage-time leveller but it has not saved them from criticism.

A raft of fans have called for van Bronckhorst to leave the club off the back of a poor run of performances and a calamitous Champions League campaign, while Rangers players were booed off against David Martindale's side. The boss says they conceded a terrible goal but overall, he gets the anger: “I said it many times. I understand them and we will work hard to overturn it.

"It’s understandable that they show their frustration. They want their team to be successful, playing well and get points in Europe.

"It’s what is expected when you’re a Rangers manager or player. And when that’s not happening you will get criticised. We need to take that as it’s their voice and the fans are so important for every club.

"We need to make sure we give them the moments to be positive. In the last couple of games we didn’t do that. How we conceded the goal is impossible, in my opinion, but it happened.

"Then you see the opponent getting stronger because they are 1-0 up and they can defend and have some transition moments and with a really physical striker it was hard for us to take those away."
