CRAIG LEVEIN has warned Celtic and Rangers that VAR will not be totally positive for them.
The video technology will be implemented in the Premiership later this year following the conclusion of the World Cup in December.
Only one club out of Scotland's 42 opposed the introduction of the system, which is designed to help the officials.
While Levein welcomes VAR into Scottish football, he's warned the Old Firm that it could see them get fewer calls in their favour.
He claimed that pressure from the team's larger crowds will no longer have the same impact.
He told BBC Sportsound.“This is probably controversial. I think it’s a great thing for Scottish football but maybe not so good for the Old Firm.”
He explained: “Well, why do you think?
“In my time in Scottish football, I've been involved in matches where I feel the Old Firm have been given more than their share of decisions, based on crowd noise and intimidation.
“Referees are human beings, and if you come under pressure like you do at those two grounds, then it’s in human nature that you’re more likely to do the thing that calms everything down.
“And that's give a 50/50 decision to one of those teams.”
He continued: "Handball is the one to pick, because they’ve made a complete mess of that.
“Even the offside, for a while it was contentious but I think they’re getting there with it now.
“They were drawing all these lines and there were microscopic differences.”
