A ball hasn't been kicked in the latest Old Firm episode of the season but the Hotline high drama was all about not having Rangers fans inside Celtic Park.
There were also honourable mentions for Steven Gerrard and Sandy Lyle. Chris Lowe, Yoker, said: "Celtic want a return to full away support at Old Firm games at Ibrox with 8000 premium seats with no restricted views. In return they will tuck the Rangers support away in a corner with 40-per-cent of those tickets restricted views usually behind a big supporting pillar. Celtic Park can’t get a safety certificate for a full house in games with a large away support now unless the general footprint of the stadium remains open.”
Gerrard Kelly called in: "Rangers fans are shouting about how it's Celtic's fault there are no fans but it was their club which started it because they couldn't handle Celtic fans celebrating." Bud Hay, Dumfries, said: "I've got to laugh at Barry Ferguson going on about there being no Rangers fans at the game on Saturday. It was the Ibrox club which started this so regardless of how many of their fans watch this game, Celtic will get a result and the champions will retain the flag."
Eddie Easson, Ballingry, said: "At long last a Rangers man on here talking sense so take a bow Graham Taylor. Rangers are in total turmoil with a chairman jacking it In before the biggest game of their season. Then there's the failure to send in their accounts in on time and they are at war with anyone that fancies a go and a support at loggerheads with the board. They also have a naive manager telling the world he has got a substantial transfer pot. The game on Saturday will be a welcome distraction."
Paul McArdle, Gourock, said: "Richard Gough, Michael Beale and Barry Ferguson are all obsessed with Scotland's champions. They feel persecuted and have a massive inferiority complex. The only time they could keep up with Celtic was when they used EBTs and they last dominated when horse and cart was the most common mode of transport."
Andrew Adams, Kirkcaldy, added: "If Rangers can win on Saturday it keeps it interesting, that's all. if Celtic give up a nine point lead they don't deserve to be Champions. There will be jobs in the EPL in the summer, Crystal Palace, Leicester, Leeds, West Ham, Nottingham Forest and Spurs so are you seriously saying Ange Postecoglou will turn them all down? Get real."
George Wilson, West Sussex, said: "Celtic supporters are saying the league has been a one horse race for years. I assume they mean the four years when Rangers were in the lower divisions and Celtic had no opposition and two years ago when all the comically presumptuous 10-in-a-row parties were cancelled after Rangers romped the league by 25 points. Whatever or not Rangers have done in Europe won’t hide that Celtic have been a laughing stock for over 20 years, culminating last year in a never to be beaten feat of exiting three different European competitions in under six months."
Andrew Lamb, Fraserburgh, emailed: "Steven Gerrard is a misnomer as a football manager and very similar to Graeme Souness in being elevated to glory in a Mickey Mouse Scottish league before failing at a higher level."
Alan Laugh, Dunbar, said: "Craig Burley thinks that Lionel Messi returning to Barcelona would be a backward step and a waste of time in his career. He's entitled to his opinion but it isn't any different to Frank Lampard going back to Chelsea after he was sacked the last time for making a pigs ear of it. Messi left Barcelona because he had no choice and going back would make sense in every way possible."
Gordon Forrest, Brisbane, emailed: "I would like to wish Sandy Lyle good luck for both The Masters this week and also for his retirement from competitive golf. Sandy has been a true legend of the game representing Scotland winning the open and the masters majors as well as the unofficial 5th major the Players Championship. Thanks for the memories."
