Manchester United picked up their first pre-season win of the summer as they beat Rangers 2-0 at Murrayfield.
Leny Yoro and Jadon Sancho both started in a relatively strong lineup for the first-half. Summer signing Yoro was composed on the ball and sharp when called into action at the back, sliding in well with a last-ditch challenge early on as Rangers got in behind.
Sancho was fairly quiet on the left wing, with Amad Diallo on the opposite flank stealing the show with a brilliant performance.
He was a constant threat on the right wing, setting up an early chance for Ethan Wheatley and the striker blazed over when he should have scored.
Amad got his reward for his display before the break, cutting inside onto his left foot and whipping a superb finish into the bottom corner.
Erik ten Hag made ten changes at half-time, Andre Onana the only player to keep his place, and there was unsurprisingly a slower pace to the match.
There was little in the way of clear-cut chances until Joe Hugill doubled the lead with a brilliant strike, the 20-year-old firing off the underside of the bar after being played in by Maxi Oyedele.
Onana was rarely troubled in goal, with Will Fish sliding in well to clear the danger when Rabbi Matondo found himself free in the box.
The United goalkeeper was forced into action late on, getting down well to keep out Danilo’s volley and protect the clean sheet.
It was an improved display from United, after their opening pre-season defeat to Rosenborg, and they now travel to the USA to continue their preparations for the new campaign.
United face Arsenal at the SoFi stadium in California next weekend, before matches against Real Betis and Liverpool.
