Range Rover driver armed with a 12-inch Rambo knife Tasered by City of London police

A “dangerous” thug seen with a 12-inch Rambo knife in his Range Rover had to be Tasered by police after a foot chase in the Square Mile.

Officers carried out a hard stop on Shakai Parchment’s vehicle when it triggered an automatic number recognition camera in Goswell Road, Barbican on Tuesday.

Parchment, 21, fled the car and started to run down the road, chased by officers.

It was during the pursuit that police saw him take a silver object from his waistband and throw it to the ground.

He was also seen on body-worn footage tripping as he attempted an escape.

Officers caught up with Parchment and deployed Taser on him to mitigate “an immediate danger to the public”, City of London Police said.

The knife was recovered where he had discarded it near a block of flats.

Parchment, of Power House, Old Oak Lane, Park Royal, was arrested and charged with being in possession of an offensive weapon.

At Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, he was sentenced to six months in prison.

Superintendent William Duffy said: “A dangerous and hostile individual has been taken off of London’s streets, thanks to intelligence-led policing and the professionalism and team work of officers in the City.

“After being detected on our network of cameras, Parchment was prevented from escaping in his car, as we conducted a swift, safe and systematic stop.

“Officers acted on an immediate risk to the public and were forced to use their Taser to mitigate the risk.

“If you come into the City carrying weapons, then we will deliver an appropriate response. We’ll catch you and bring you to justice.”

Following the deployment of Taser, Parchment was taken to hospital and discharged before being taken to custody.
