Range of jobs up for grabs at Bamburgh Castle ahead of 2023 summer season

Have you always wanted to work in a centuries-old fortress overlooking the North Sea?

It's a niche question, but if the answer is yes, then we have some good news for you. Bamburgh Castle is hiring for the summer 2023 season with a range of jobs available from tour guides, to retail and admissions assistants, to front and back of house roles in its tearoom.

The castle stands above one of the world's most beautiful beaches to one side and Britain's favourite seaside destination on the other. It's one of the county's most popular days out for day trippers and staycation visitors to the region.

It will even be seen on the big screen this year, as it was used as a filming location in the most recent Indiana Jones instalment, with a Hollywood film crew taking over the fortress and setting it ablaze in June 2021.

Karen Larkin, visitor services manager at Bamburgh Castle, said that she is looking for individuals who could deliver a "great visitor experience". She said: "Because we're a family run business, it's very much down to the individual, we don't follow a script here.

"But we want enthusiasm to deliver a great visitor experience, excellent face to face communication skills, and ability to work calmly under pressure because when it's busy it can be quite full-on. So it's just having that ability to be polite, be friendly, be welcoming and give excellent customer service."

Karen has stepped into the new role after five years of working on weddings and events at the castle, and is predicting an exciting few months ahead for the castle, with a range of events to be announced in the near future. And she encouraged people, especially locals, to apply to become a part of that.

She finished: "To come to Bamburgh Castle and call it your office, for anyone it's quite amazing. It's just a lovely place to be, people love coming here, and it's a nice place to work - why wouldn't you?!"

Applicants interested in working at Bamburgh Castle in any of the following roles; guides, retail and admissions assistants, visitor welcome assistants, cleaners, kitchen assistants, kitchen porters, and tea room front of house assistants; are asked to email administrator@bamburghcastle.com.
